ACCESS
Everyone is welcome in our space, no judgement of gender, body type, scarring, disability, chronic illness, sexual orientation, race, colour of skin or special needs. We at Blank Collective want everyone who enters our little slice of heaven to feel looked after.
Please bare in mind that when your artist may bring up details of your specific needs, skin type or medical conditions it’s without prejudice and to ensure you have the best treatment for you personally, to ensure that the tattooing or tooth gem process will be suitable, protect your health and to make sure the end result meets your expectations.
Please notify your artist of any allergies, medications, medical conditions, chronic conditions, disabilities, or if you have a specific need that we can accommodate to make your session comfortable and safe for you.
Our studio is at ground level with doors of double width, we also have two gender neutral toilets including one with all disability aids. We have privacy screens that can be put up to protect your modesty.
If there’s something we haven’t covered, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. Blank Collective endeavours to provide any cultural or religious considerations. If you have any queries please don’t hesitate to drop us an email.
Entrance & Tattooing Space
The front entrance has two doors that can open, each door is 1.8 wide if we open both the entrance doors. The tattooing space is on one floor with no rugs or obstacles on the floor.
All furniture in tattooing space is collapsible or on wheels so there is space for manoeuvring.
There is seating available in the waiting room in the form of a large low sofa but we are able to provide solid, taller chairs if needed
Bathrooms
We have two toilets, one of our bathrooms is wheelchair accessible and has a grab rail.
Scents
We burn candles in the studio every day and may also light incense
We use a scented cleaning product (cavicide or distel) to disinfect all surfaces but may use alcohol for cleaning skin before applying tattoo stencils.
Sounds
There is music playing at the studio at all times. Please let the tattooist know if the music playing is causing stress or discomfort. The playlist will differ depending on the day and the artists in the studio.
The studio is open plan so there is likely to be conversational noise and the drone of tattoo machines. Some machines are louder than other depending on the artist.
Feel free to bring ear-plugs or noise-cancelling headphones and tell your artist how it best to communicate with you.
You may be lucky enough to meet our studio dogs, Fester & Pugsley. A pug and a brussels griffon, it’s rare that they are in, and they will spend the day in the staff room but you may hear them. They are small dogs which means they suffer from small dog syndrome and may bark, Pugsley’s snorts may sound like growls but she is just chatting.
Tooth Gems
During the tooth gem application it’s very important that you are able to keep still, quiet and with your mouth open (with cotton) for at least 10 minutes to ensure safe application without contact with harmful substances.
The service itself is usually applied sat upright on a tall barstool. If you would prefer a lower chair or bed this is possible but sitting upright is important for the perfect application.
We use a tooth dryer which blasts a little warm air and can be noisy as well as a curing light however you will be wearing protective glasses.
Our technicians will be constantly talking to you throughout the entire process to ensure the treatment is quick and worry free.
The process is not painful but isn’t the most comfortable, we like to liken it to lash extensions, however our technicians are very quick and efficient.
Allergies
The studio uses nitrile gloves, so latex allergy shouldn’t be an issue, but please let your artist know of any other allergies.
Please advise if you have any reaction to adhesives such as plasters as your artist will use tape. This will influence the aftercare method your artist will use.
We may also use witch hazel, vaseline and aloe vera during the tattoo process, however the process can be adjusted if required.
Tattooing Furniture
We have aimed to consider all body shapes when choosing the furniture at the studio. Our beds are wider and longer than average and extra padded for comfort.
Clients can lay down on a massage table or sit on a chair while getting tattooed, depending on the area on the body. We have tried our best to accommodate all body sizes in our massage tables, client chairs and arms rests to provide a comfortable to tattooing experience for everybody. Our folding chairs are user weight rated for a maximum of 150kg.
We have wider beds as standard with a user weight rating of 250kg. The height of the beds can be adjusted from a minimum of 60cm tall to a maximum of 82cm tall.
Where suitable we can tattoo some areas in your own wheelchair as long as the brakes are working well, and the chair has limited give/movement.
If you will require assistance getting on and off the treatment bed we are happy to help, or you are more than welcome to bring along a support person or a carer to help with any transfers if you feel more comfortable.
If there is any further queries or you would like to bring any other access requirements to our attention, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
